Clients requesting any notarial service MUST provide proper identification. Illinois recognizes the following documents, in a valid, unexpired status:
Current Driver’s License or Identification Card (issued by any US state)
Current US Passport
A current document that is issued by a state agency, federal government agency, or consulate, and bears the photographic image of the individual’s face and signature of the individual.
If one of these documents cannot be produced, it is possible to be identified by:
Identified upon the oath or affirmation of a credible witness personally known to the notary, or who have their own identity verified by the means above.
When an individual is prevented by disability or illiteracy to writing a signature, two persons plus the Notary Public must witness the signature-by-mark. You will be asked to confirm which identification item you possess for the requested transaction.
Failure to have this documentation upon arrival will cause the Notary Public to refuse to provide the notarial act and any administrative and/or travel fee(s) will be forfeited.
